  A friendly and cosy pub with an open fire. The pub is worth a visit as it has a lot of interesting history and a great atmosphere. We really enjoyed our visits whilst we were here for the weekend and hope to try the food next time too (it was fully booked so must be popular with the locals and visitors alike). The ales are very good and you can tell that they are well kept, even if they are a little more expensive than other pubs in the area. Highly recommend.

  Large but cosy - feeling historic pub, with open fires each end. Large beer garden. Good ales and cider and friendly staff. We didn't eat here but the meals I saw being served, looked really good. The building was owned by Thomas Cromwell, before Henry viii stripped him of his properties and once inside, it's like a step back to those times. Beautiful.

  An beautiful pub with open fires and we did here by having cleves sausages with mash which fantastic also with a selection of ales on offer. Once owned by Thomas Connell so plenty of history to be had. Will be going back again.

  Lovely place, beautiful inside and out, very friendly and excellent for a drink of an evening. Not eaten here for some, but food was delicious as I recall. Well worth a visit :)
